Accounting Manager

Location: Quincy, MA

The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, which drives informed decision-making and supports the overall financial health and strategic objectives of the company. With an added focus on process improvement, internal controls, and team leadership, this position serves as a primary link between accounting operations, finance, executive leadership, and external audit partners, ensuring transparency, consistency, and operational excellence across all entities.

In partnership with the Finance leadership team, this role assists senior leadership to maintain strong accounting practices, implement and uphold best practices across the department, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. Additionally, this position serves as a key point of contact for independent auditors and cross-functional stakeholders requiring financial insights and reporting support.

What You Will Do…

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, overseeing daily activities and professional development.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for all entities.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with internal accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and variances, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly KPI and management reporting to stakeholders and department leaders.
  • Collaborate with finance, sales, operations, and executive leadership to support business initiatives and financial transparency.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters and ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Manage balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure timely preparation and review.
  • Oversee internal control compliance activities and ensure controls are executed accurately and on schedule.
  • Partner with independent auditors to support timely completion of financial statement audits.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting efforts as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements leveraging technology and best practices.
  • Perform additional projects, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

Potentially Successful Candidates Have…

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels of professionals and company leadership.
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex business problems.
  • A calm, professional approach when handling deadlines and stakeholder demands.

Prior Experience

  • Progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Direct people management experience within an accounting or finance function.
  • Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors.
